Digital equity is a state in which all people and communities have access to the information technology they need to participate fully in our society, democracy, and economy. In the article, “The National Digital Inclusion Alliance”, they said that digital equity is necessary for civic and cultural participation, employment, lifelong learning, and access to essential services. In the article, “Digital Divide”( (Pazurek & Feyissa, 2015), they described the term as the disparity that exists among individuals and communities around the world. Meaning that the digital divide is the difference between those who benefit from the Digital Age and those who do not.

In the article, The digital divide, digital equity, and the nature of the problem”, the similarities between the two are the first-level digital divide, which is frequently referred to as the digital divide, as well as the second-level digital divide, which is concerned with the use of digital technology, are both addressed by digital equity. Digital equity is very important in education because It’s about ensuring that kids have equal access to technology such as gadgets, software, and the internet, as well as skilled educators to assist them in using those resources. The digital divide is also important because it contributes to differences in development levels among states.

If one has limited digital technology it can affect them in many ways. In the world that we live in today, we need technology for everything. It became a basic necessity that we use as a part of our daily lives. For example, due to COVID-19, many jobs have been replaced to being remote (the majority of them still are). So, without technology, you wouldn’t be able to upkeep with your job. School would be another great example. Most classes are still online and you’ll need reliable technology to part-take in the course. It’s almost impossible to do anything that doesn’t revolve around technology these days.
